The ED remains open 24/7, however there are long delays which hospital management say are being treated as a priority.

All patients are being triaged and treated based on their needs when they present at the hospital.

Patients with less urgent needs are being asked to contact their GP or to attend the Mercy Local Injury Clinic at St Mary's in Gurranabraher which is open from 8am to 8pm.

The public are also being reminded that South Doc is an option outside of working hours.

The Local Injury Clinic at Bantry General is open between 8am and 7:30pm and the Local Injury Clinic at Mallow General is open from 8am to 8pm.

There are a record 931 patients are without a bed in Irish Hospitals today- which is 171 more than the previous record.

It includes 74 people at Cork University Hospital and 31 at the Mercy University Hospital.
