The crash happened at Dromahane just after 3:30pm
The man's body was taken to CUH where a post mortem will take place later today, while the driver of the van, a man in his 50s was treated for shock at the scene.
The road was closed for a time while a forensic collision Investigation took place but has since reopened.

The man is the 15th person to die on Cork roads this year- equalling the death toll for the entire of last year in the city and county.
Elsewhere, a woman in her 60s was killed when the car in which she was a passenger collided with a truck at Baxter's Bridge between Bandon and Ballineen just before 1pm yesterday.
The male driver of the car is in a serious condition at CUH.
