A man in his 40s charged in relation to an incident at a bar in Douglas at the weekend is due to appear in court again in January.

David White of 54 Glencurrig, South Douglas Road appeared at Cork District Court today charged with assault causing harm to two named individuals.

The incident happened at the Briar Rose Bar in Douglas on Saturday last.

Gardaí were called to the bar following reports that a man had allegedly injured two staff members with a knife.

The staff members were treated at the bar for superficial wounds and the man was arrested at the scene.

Today in court, Detective Garda Declan O’Dwyer of Douglas Garda station gave evidence of arrest charge and caution.

He told the court that 43 year old White made no reply when the charges were put to him.

Gardaí had no objection to bail once the accused observes a number of conditions including that he stay away from the Briar Rose Bar and have no direct or indirect contact with the alleged injured parties.

Judge Olann Kelleher remanded White on bail until the 16th of January next year.
