A mother whose baby's organs were incinerated by Cork University Hospital says families won't rest until the human tissues bill is enacted

Leona Bermingham’s family received a copy of the external review into the scandal earlier today following a long wait for answers about what happened to their son Lee's brain.

The report says the Post Mortem Room Team sent the organs of 18 babies for incineration during the first wave of the pandemic- at a time the review team say hospitals nationwide were preparing to significantly increase their mortuary capacity for mass fatalities.

The Review Team have described what happened at CUH as a “misguided decision” which deviated from local policy and national standards and say the Post Mortem Room Team very much regret the action taken.

Speaking to RedFM News, Leona Bermingham says it has been a very emotional day for families and gives her thoughts on the report:
