More than 20,000 pledges of accommodation have been made to date.

Over 5,500 people have already arrived here after fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Lorcan Sirr, housing lecturer at TU Dublin, thinks holiday homes should be used to house refugees:

"The low hanging fruit is existing unoccupied buildings. So that could be student accommodation, could be build to rent apartments that are finished, it could be institutional settings, but the really obvious one because they tend to be in good condition and occupiable straightaway are holiday homes and there's we've got about 62,000 builds around the country."
