Shoppers encouraged to support shopping in flood hit Midleton in early December

The town of Midleton is planning to host a weekend in early December encouraging people to travel to the East Cork town and support the local businesses

Traders are struggling to get back on their feet after the town was hit by flash flooding during Storm Babet and are anxious to reopen their businesses

The recovery process is slow as people are still trying to dry out their premises fully before any repair works can start

The Red Cross has been distributing funding through the Emergency Flood Relief Scheme however a number of incomplete applications have had to be returned

Deirdre Garvey from the Red Cross told RedFM News that businesses need to attach the correct documents to their application before they can receive funding:
