There's been a drop in blood donations due to donors travelling or contracting Covid-19.
That's according to the Irish Blood Transfusion Service who are encouraging people to donate blood, particularly those with O Negative.. B Negative and A Negative blood types.
The service are operating clinics for people on the north side of the city and Glanmire on Monday and Tuesday next week, with another blood donation clinic in operation in Ovens later in the week.
Speaking to RedFM News, Donor Services Manager with Irish Blood Transfusion Maureen Gill says their website giveblood.ie is the best way to make contact with the service:
"giveblood.ie is where you'll get the information about upcoming clinics. On the website you can also register your interest. If you're interested in becoming a donor, you can put your name your details your phone number, and we'll give you a shout when we are coming to your local area next. So you might not hear from us for the next week or two, but when we are popping by, you know, to your local local GAA or community centre will let you know in advance."
