It's putting forward a motion in the Dáil today on the cost of living.

It comes as a recent survey found that rents in Cork are continuing to rise with rents in the county increasing at a higher rate than the city last year

Rents in County Cork increased over 11% to €1,092 this year, while renters in the city are paying an average of €1,389.

Rents increased by 8.3% nationally in Quarter 3- the highest growth rate in almost four years.

Labour Senator and the party's spokesperson on housing, Rebecca Moynihan, says rising rents is a national problem:

"We're looking at counties like Leitrim, Roscommon, Kerry, Waterford having up to 20% increases in the cost of rent in the last year, that's unaffordable for so many single people and so many families."
