The Taoiseach and Minister for Equality and Integration will be among those launching the National Action Plan Against Racism later today.

The strategy has been led by the Government's anti-racism committee, which looked at issues including how racial abuse and discrimination affects people online, as well as in employment and in gaining access to public services.

Director of the Irish Network Against Racism, Shane O'Curry, says the new plan could have a significant impact if it's properly implemented:

"What's good about this plan is that it offers a multi-pronged and hopefully well resourced package for all institutions to keep a focus on racism because they understand racism as an endemic problem in all of our institutions, and I think if it's properly implemented will be one of the most progressive plans against racism in the West."
