Government measures, like cutting VAT, are doing little to tackle soaring energy costs, according to the ESRI.

Its latest report shows the number of households facing fuel poverty's at an all-time high - with 29 percent struggling to cover energy bills.

The average household's paying about 21 euro more per week on energy than they were in January 2021.

Dr Tricia Keilthy, Head of Social Justice at the St Vincent de Paul wants to see targeted measures introduced for lower income earners.
