Gardai appeal for information following Mardyke stabbing

A teenage boy is being treated at Cork University Hospital after he was stabbed in the city yesterday evening.

The incident happened on the Mardyke side of the Shakey Bridge at around 4:30pm.

The boy who is believed to be aged around 14 suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries at the Shakey Bridge.

He was treated at the scene immediately after the stabbing by members of Mallow Search and Rescue who were attending an event in the nearby Fitzgerald’s Park.

Emergency services arrived within minutes and the boy was taken to CUH.

Gardaí sealed off a small area on the Mardyke side of the bridge and say they are following a definite line of enquiry. They are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them at Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021 45 22 000

They are also asking any drivers with dash cam footage from the area at the time to make it available to them.
