People are being forced out of the city due to the housing crisis.

That’s according to Focus Ireland who launched their Focus On Homelessness report in the city today.

The charity say demand for housing is completely outweighing supply, which is forcing some people and families to move to villages and towns outside the city.

According to the latest figures from the Department of Housing, there are 423 people classed as homeless in Cork City and County...

Speaking to RedFM News, Gerard Spillane from Focus Ireland says it is possible to cut that number to zero:

We know the housing type and the housing tenures that's required and I suppose while the figures are high and anybody being homeless in the region is, you know, disgraceful. What the numbers tell us is that the numbers are quite manageable and we could actually eliminate homelessness in Cork city in the county and in Kerry if with the appropriate supports if appropriate housing became available."
