Fire Service units from Skibbereen, Schull and Bantry are currently at a serious fire at a former Convent in North St in Skibbereen.

The blaze broke out at the former convent earlier this afternoon.

The alarm was raised at around 3.30pm when fire was spotted coming from the roof of the building.

Cork County Fire Service say traffic diversions are in place and people are being asked to avoid the area.
