Farmers from across Munster will protest in the city later against the governments climate action strategy.

The Irish Farmers Association says the current coalition's policies will decimate Ireland's largest indigenous sector.

The demonstration is one of a number of protests that will also take place in Cavan, Roscommon and Portaloise.

Farmers will gather at Emmet Place in the city at 8pm with some bringing tractors and will travel to Grand Parade.

IFA President, Tim Cullinan, says they deserve to be at the negotiating table to outline their concerns.

"We are very, very unhappy with the Government at the moment.

"What we want to achieve here is that we can sit down around the table with the Government and come up with a proper plan.

"What we're looking at here is enormous change for our farmers in the coming years.

"I would go as far to say that it is the most substantial change we're going to see since the foundation of the state."
