Farmers to descend on city this evening in rally to "Save Irish Farming"

The rally is one of a series taking place around the country today as farmers raised their concerns about the provision for farmers in next week's budget, the impact of the Government's climate action strategy on their industry and the potential cuts in income and production under the Common Agricultural Policy.

Courtmacsherry based Harold Kingston is the Munster Chairman of the Irish Farmers Association and he says farmers have to be afforded the right to produce and if this is reduced the ability to generate an income will be negatively impacted.

Speaking to RedFM News Harold Kingston says if the productive ability of a farmer is reduced then it will have a knock on effect:

Farmers will gather at Emmet Place in the city at 8pm with some bringing tractors and will travel to Grand Parade where they will be addressed by the IFA President.
