€8.78m announced in housing adaption grants for Cork

€8.78m in funding has been announced in housing adaption grants for older people and people living with a disability in Cork.

The grants of up to €30,000 are available to assist disabled people in carrying out necessary works to make a house more suitable for their needs.

The allocation received by Cork City Council and Cork County Council is designed to continue to support older people and disabled people to live independently in Cork.

Speaking to RedFM News, Seamus De Faoite, Senior Executive for Cork County Council outlines how people can apply for the grant:

"The adaptation grants with an extra grant of €30,000 which assists with extensions, internal alterations etc.  Good mobility aid grants and a maximum grant €6000 for smaller bedroom conversions for shower rooms, etc. and there's also are the housing aid for older persons with a max grant of €8000. So this allows people to replace roofs windows and doors, heating systems, etc. and any further information is available at at https://www.corkcoco.ie/en/housing or by emailing [email protected]"
