The Donkey Sanctuary in Liscarroll is hoping to entertain a Hollywood star in the shape of Colin Farrell in the near future.

The Golden Globe winner was invited to visit the North Cork based donkey sanctuary after his shout-out to Jenny the donkey in his best actor acceptance speech after she starred alongside him in the Banshees of Inisherin.

The Irish Donkey Sanctuary say "it is so gratifying to see donkeys portrayed in such a positive light".

Laura Foster of the Irish Donkey Sanctuary says she wrote to Colin Farrell's representatives in Hollywood to try and arrange a visit as she was very taken by the relationship Colin’s character in the movie has with Jenny the donkey.

Speaking to RedFM News in the past few minutes Laura outlines what any potential support from Colin Farrell could do for the Donkey Sanctuary.

"It would be fantastic! Our open farm in Liscarroll is open to the public, and anybody can come down and see us ate any time.

"It's quite a humble place, we don't have red carpet facilities! But we would love to see someone of his profile visit us and help to spread the word about how wonderful these animals are."
