Former Debenhams staff are calling for a 3 million euro training fund to be distributed to those who need it urgently.

It comes amid growing frustration that the fund, which was agreed in May, still has not been given to employees.

330 staff from two Cork stores blockaded their former workplaces for 406 days after Debenhams announced the closure of 11 outlets in Ireland

The 3 million euro education and training fund formed a key part of the redundancy agreement, and is to be administered by a committee with includes representatives from Mandate and Solas.

However, the former staff say they are yet to get access to the money, forcing many to give up their places for training courses in September as they could not afford them.

Mandate Trade Union and Solas have been contacted for a statement.

Speaking to RedFM News, former Debenhams shop steward, Valerie Conlon says a system to administer the fund is not yet in place:
