The hosting of the 2024 America's Cup in Cork isn't dead in the water just quite yet.

The organisers have extended the selection process in order to allow short listed venues more time to work through the details.

It looked like Ireland's bid to host the event had come to an end after they had requested 6 more months for a detailed cost benefit analysis of hosting the America's Cup in Cork Harbour, and that it would go to one of the other bidders, Spain or Saudi Arabia.

However event organisers have confirmed the extension, however the Irish Examiner reports that Ireland will now have just two months to work with, not the six month extension they had requested.
