A number of road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place in low lying areas of the city this evening ahead of high tide at 5.25pm.

High tide in the city this morning passed with no major flooding but some surface water remained in low lying areas so caution was advised.

The Council says the city is experiencing tidal flooding so it recedes quickly and there was no damage this morning to homes or businesses.

High tide is expected to hit this evening during rush hour at 5.25pm and listeners are warned that flood waters may remain on roads and low lying streets such as South Mall, Morrisons Island, Lower Glanmire Road and Lavitt's Quay.

The Council is urging people to avoid travel during this evening’s high tide and for those who must travel at that time to proceed with caution and allow for additional travel time.
