Cork City Council says engagement on the re-development of Spring Lane and Ellis's yard sites is continuing

Cork City Council says engagement with residents of Spring Lane on the re-development of Spring Lane and Ellis's yard sites are continuing apace

Since 2021 the Council says it has drawn down €5.2 million in department funding in improving conditions for travellers families including site improvement works, replacement mobile homes and the purchase of properties

The Council is currently developing five projects across their sites with 1.6 million to be spent

Brian Geaney  assistant Chief Executive of Cork City Council outlined how progress is being made on 27 new housing units between Spring Lane and Ellis's Yard

"A detailed proposal has been completed for 27 new housing units between Spring Lane and Ellis's Yard. Stage two funding was approved by the Department of Housing,  local government and heritage in recent days, on the 29th of January, 2024, it is the Council's intention to commence the formal Part Eight process now without delay"
