Cork Business Association says warehoused debt repayments could put some business owners over the edge.

Revenue's extension of tax repayments expired yesterday with many business owners saying they're already grappling with high business costs.

The interest rate is at 0 percent but will go back up to 8 percent if a business doesn't make contact with Revenue about repayments.

Speaking to RedFM News, Dave O'Brien from Cork Business Association says businesses who don't engage with Revenue will face demand notices and debt collections:

"With that high interest rates, Revenue will also look to collect the debt, which means that there will be demand notices coming out, possibly Sheriff's calling and liquidators appointed. It could put them over the edge so if they are struggling with this, they need to go to the Revenue, and they need to renegotiate a payment plan that they've entered into for debt warehousing"
