The new president of Cork Business Association says some businesses are being forced to temporarily close due to the current wave of Covid.
Kevin Herlihy operates 7 Centra stores in the city and county with his brother and was Vice President of CBA for the past two years.
It was reported last week that the Chief Medical Officer would consider reducing the isolation period from the current seven days, however it seems unlikely the rules will be changed due to the high number of daily positive cases.
Speaking to RedFM News, CBA President Kevin Herlihy says he is hopeful that disruption to business will ease in the coming weeks:
"It's certainly an issue across the board, including in our own business every week we have people out with Covid. It's just part of it now and we have just got to deal with it. We have in the CBA. We have seen businesses that would close earlier or open later or even I saw one business recently that was closed for the full day because they just couldn't staff it. But I think reading yesterday this wave seems to have peaked. So hopefully the numbers should alleviate over the next few weeks and we might get back to some kind of normality"
