House prices nationally have fallen in value for the first time since 2012 however prices in Cork are bucking the trend

The latest report from Daft.ie shows prices fell by 0.3% nationally in the first three months of this year but in Cork city in the same timeframe they rose by 1% while they rose by 3% in the county

The average price of a home in the city is now €324,000 while in the the rest of Cork the average price of a home is now €272,000 with first time buyers driving the demand

Auctioneers this week have already reported a strong demand for houses in West Cork in particular which is being driven by UK interest in the area

The supply of houses coming to market is still not meeting demand and estate agents are continuing to report of a shortage of housing

Only 13,000 residential properties were for sale on March 1st, a 30% drop on last year, and down from an average of just over 24 thousand in 2019.
