Night time water restrictions have been reintroduced in Clonakilty where water levels have reached 'historic lows'.

It comes just 24 hours after a hosepipe ban was introduced in west Cork due to the increased demand for water following the recent hot weather.

The restrictions began last night and will be in place from 11pm until 7am every night until further notice.

Ladys Cross, Barrick Hill and Fernhill Road are among the places worst affected.

Irish Water have been monitoring the water levels in Clonakilty since July, and say these restrictions are necessary to refill networks.
