City Council is once again warning people to stay at home as winds gusting up to 130km an hour will continue to affect Cork throughout today

An intense period of severe wind is expected in the coming hours but the red wind alert remains in place until 9 o’clock tonight.At least 12 fallen trees have been reported across the city and powerlines have also fallen. Cork City Fire Brigade and ESB crews are busy responding to incidents across the city.Gardai  in Cobh say a tree is down near Walters-town School at Ballynoe while a second tree is down at Ballard Hill - however the road there is passableA car overturned at Mizen Head but no injuries were reported there.High tide passed in the city centre Cork this morning with flood waters flowing across South Mall from the riverside quays at Morrisons IslandSpeaking to RedFM News David Joyce from Cork City Council is urging people to stay indoors:

"Just because the tidal flooding has passed there is still a red warning in the city and we will still ask people to stay at home for the rest of the day."
