In a statement to RedFM News in the past hour, the Board of Trustees say the relationship between the Board and some of the members of the service has been irreparably fractured.
The parents of children who attend CoAction's disability services centre on Slip Road in Bantry carried out their second protest this morning in a bid to stop the service being converted into a residential unit for adults.
Around 180 children attend the purpose-built centre, with many parents voicing anger that the children's service would be moved to another location.
CoAction said the temporary move was necessary to allow them to refurbish the existing centre for adults as it was not possible to find alternative residential accommodation in Bantry and the surrounding area.
In a statement to RedFM News, CoAction say a cohort of parents and their supporters mounted a verbal attack at the group's AGM on the 24th of November, which has since continued on several social media platforms, on the broadcast media and through a "barrage" of some distressing emails to the office of the CEO.
The Board of Trustees says the position of the Directors and Trustees is now untenable due to a clear lack of confidence in the Board, which they say is damaging to CoAction and the effective running of the organisation.
The board say they trust that a solution will be found to accommodate the needs of the 4 adult residents and two respite places while a residential house is being renovated.
They also say that any potential development to include the Child and Family Services building will be a matter for the new board.
