Ian Bailey claims a cold case review of the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier would prove he's innocent.

The former journalist says he has written to the Garda commissioner three times, asking him to order the new probe.

Mr Bailey was convicted in his absence in 2019 of murdering the French film-maker in west Cork nearly 25 years ago.

But he's never been charged here - and he says a new Garda investigation is needed.

"There were two salient facts which I drew to the attention of Drew Harris.

"One was the fact that there was alien blood, when I say alien blood I mean not the victim's blood, found upon her show - clearly not my blood because they have my blood samples from very early on.

"Then you have the situation as we know now, evidence going missing like the six bar gate, and then you have statements that would have exonerated me which have gone missing."
