A Ukrainian woman who moved to Cork at the outbreak of the war says while she has settled into a new life here - she longs for home

Tanya Malanchuk fled her home country with her young daughter, who is now 6 years-old, two months after the Russian invasion of Ukraine

As the second anniversary of the war approaches she says she is very grateful for the support which has enabled her to build a life for herself and her daughter in Cork

Speaking to RedFM News Tanya says her family remain in the Ukraine and live under constant fear of attack

"I was home for two weeks and it was quite a difficult experience. It is very difficult to wake up in the middle of the night and hear all the sirens which are sounding quite loud, it is also a great fear as you are not sure where you will be safe. You wonder if you should stay at home and probably will be ok or should you pack everything and go down somewhere safe"
