63-year-old man accused of attacking sleeping wife refused bail in the High Court

A 63 year old man accused of attacking his sleeping wife with boiling water and a claw-hammer has been refused bail in the High Court.

Noel Twomey, of Carbery Grove, Knocknaheeny was arrested in January after he flagged down a Garda patrol car. It was claimed that he was carrying a bloodstained hammer in a plastic bag.

He is charged with two counts of assault causing harm to his wife, Jackie Twomey, at their home on the northside of the city.

Judge Mary Dorgan adjourned the case for two weeks until March 5th next as DPP directions are awaited in the case.
