That's according to the Social Housing Construction Status Report which was published by the Department of Housing this week.
Nationwide, there are almost 8,250 social homes currently under construction, with a over 12,300 homes at the design and tender stage.
In Cork, 163 social housing units were completed in the second quarter of 2021 - but that has dropped to 110 units this year
The report shows that between the city and county nearly 2,700 social housing units are at pre-construction stages.
