The woman who died when the car she and two children were in entered the River Lee on Friday has been named as Gillian Daly.
Both children managed to escape the vehicle when it hit the water at Kennedy Quay and were un-injured but very shaken.
However Gillian Daly, who was the driver, was trapped inside and drowned.
Southern Correspondent with the Irish Independent Ralph Riegel, says local Gardaí are still appealing for witnesses:
"The Garda investigation into the precise circumstances and what happened is ongoing. The Gardaí have appealed for anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the car entering the water to contact them. but they're also appealing for was there anyone who was driving in that area at the time whose vehicles may be equipped with Dash cams to contact them. The Gardaí have removed the car from the water it's been taken to a secure area and it's going to be subjected to a full examination."
