The warning comes into effect at midnight on Thursday night, in order to protect the 20,941 customers supplied by the Glashaboy Water Treatment plant.
Water must be boiled for drinking, making drinks with water, preparation of salads and similar foods which are not cooked prior to eating, brushing of teeth and making of ice.
The warning affects customers in Glanmire, Glounthaune, Little Island and Carrigtwohill.

Unite Trade Union Coordinating Officer Tom Fitzgerald says while the action is regrettable, they will deal with emergencies.
"Our members who are involved in the industrial action live in these communities, and they'll be impacted by this.
"We hope this will be limited. We have a mechanism in place through an agreement with the various local authorities that for essential and emergency work that our members will come off the picket line and support that work."
