New filling stations should only get planning permission if they've more electric charging points than petrol and diesel pumps.
That's according to Green Party TD Neasa Hourigan, who's calling for stricter planning laws to encourage more people to change to electric vehicles.
According to the Irish Independent, there are up to 1,900 filling stations across Ireland.
Deputy Hourigan, who's currently suspended from the Green Party after voting against government, believes the figure's not high enough.
