The French Ambassador to Ireland insists the country is working on 'doing better' when it comes to hosting international events.

It's after Liverpool fans were tear-gassed and denied entry to the Champions League Final in Paris.

France will host the Rugby World Cup and Olympics in the next two years.

Ambassador Vincent Gueren says police had to prevent large crowds invading the Stade De France pitch:

"There will have to be a proper investigation to see what exactly went wrong and obviously things went wrong. Again, there were very large numbers and the police had also to make sure that no crowd would just invade the stadium. This would have been just a non-starter for everybody. So the the game was started late, about half an hour roughly but at least the game could take place. Imagine if the crowd would have invaded the pitch".
