The Hospital says the increasing number of Covid positive patients being admitted to the hospital is putting significant pressure on services.
A Hospital Surge Plan is being put in place and patients will be contacted directly if their procedure is being cancelled.
Management are asking the public to explore all available options such as local injury clinics and Southdoc before turning up at the Emergency Department.
The appeal comes after the Mercy University Hospital issued a statement earlier today calling on people with less urgent needs to contact their GP or local injury clinic before turning up at the ED.
