The recent Arctic cold snap to hit the country will come to an end this morning as a status Yellow ice warning issued by Met Eireann for 18 county's is lifted.
The country experienced extreme cold temperatures, with frozen fog and black ice.
Scattered outbreaks of blustery rain, heaviest across southern and western counties, could result in spot flooding today.
Alan Reilly of Carlow Weather said conditions will be mixed in the coming days but temperatures will recover:
" It was an unusually cold style, especially for this area in the winter in December, the cold spell we've had really since 2018 with the coldest December spells since 2010, and I think it'll be remembered for the ice, more so than the snow, the coming week will start off wet and windy but much milder however, temperatures will drop back to more normal levels of 8 or 9 degrees"
