An Post looks set to offer mortgages.
The Irish Independent reports that the post office network will join forces with start-up lender MoCo to offer home loans in the Irish market.
It comes amid fears of a lack of competition for home buyers as a number of lenders, including KBC and Ulster Bank, wind up their operations here.
The newspaper says MoCo is still in the process of securing authorisation from the Central Bank to act as a retail credit firm.
