The jury at the trial of the man accused of murdering Bruna Fonseca has heard he told her cousin he had nothing to do with her death, before saying he choked her.

32-year-old Miller Pacheco of Liberty Street, Cork has pleaded not guilty to the murder of his 28-year-old former girlfriend on New Years Day 2023.

Marcela Fonseca went to Miller Pacheco’s apartment on Liberty Street at around 6am on the morning of the first of January 2023 after being contacted by one of Mr Pacheco's friends in Brazil.

The court heard the friend told Marcela Fonseca that Mr Pacheco said he had killed Bruna Fonseca and had sent him a video of Bruna’s body.

The jury also heard Bruna Fonseca had broken up with the accused between three days and a week after he arrived in Ireland in November 2022 following a five year relationship.

The trial continues.
