Met Éireann has confirmed that it will replace county-wide weather warnings with a new localised system beginning later this year. The forecaster is developing a polygon-based system that will divide the country into sub-county zones. The move comes after calls for a new system from flood victims in Mildleton and East Cork after severe flooding in 2023 and in Bantry in West Cork last November.
