Secondary schools are dropping some subjects from the curriculum as they cannot fill vacancies. A Department of Education study shows more than 1,000 positions remain unfilled in schools with Maths, Irish and Home Economics the subjects worst impacted.

Orange and yellow warning's for more heavy rain are now in place for counties in the east and south east of the country. A yellow alert for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Louth, Wexford, Monaghan and Tipperary continues until 3 o'clock tomorrow morning, with Wicklow and Waterford under the orange warning.
