Cork well represented at Basketball Ireland Awards

The Basketball Ireland Annual Awards were announced today.

Cork is well represented, with Division One champions Tradehouse Central Ballincollig completing a clean sweep -Andre Nation won player of the year, Dylan Corkery was named young player of the year for the third year in a row, with coach Kieran O'Sullivan named coach of the year following an incredible season that saw Ballincollig crowned league and cup champions.

Ambassador UCC Glanmire guard Shirita Parker was named Women's Super League player of the year, while Cork's Edel Thornton was named division one player of the year.

Derek Hegarty of the Rebel Wheelers was named wheelchair basketball mens player of the year for the second year in a row.

The awards will be presented at the Hall of Fame and Annual Awards Ceremony which is due to be held on May 30th in Croke Park, this date subject to change depending on Covid-19.
