Revealed: Ireland’s biggest hits so far this year

It will come as no surprise to many that Olivia Rodrigo’s song Driver's License has allowed her to drive right up the Irish charts to be the number one played song so far this year. 

Olivia’s six-week chart topper Good 4 U is close behind at Number 2. 

Ms Rodrigo also placed number one in the Irish album charts with her debut album Sour. 

The album stayed at the top spot for 12 weeks – the most weeks at Number 1 for a female artist album in five years, since Adele’s 25 was released. 

In second spot is Ireland’s very own, Dermot Kennedy with his 2019 debut album Without Fear. 

It is Ireland’s biggest homegrown artist album of the year to date and is also the most purchased album on physical formats so far this year. 

Irish artist Dermot Kennedy also claimed the biggest song by a homegrown artist as his collaboration with producers Meduza, Paradise, places at 11. 

His hit Giants is also close behind at 14, while his song Outnumbered also features at 49. 

Other artists in the album charts are Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Lewis Capaldi, and ABBA. 

Dermot is the only Irish artist to reach the top 10 Irish album charts for this year to date.  

However more Irish talent more Irish features further down in the chart with Picture This’ third studio collection Life In Colour at Number 28, Hozier’s self-titled album at Number 34, and U2’s greatest hits U2 18 Singles at Number 38.
