Schools are continuing to struggle to fill teaching posts in core subjects

Teaching unions warn this will continue until contracts and wages are vastly improved

A Department of Education study shows more than 1,000 positions remain unfilled in secondary schools with Maths, Irish and Home Economics the subjects worst impacted

Speaking to RedFM News Aaron Wolfe Principal of Coláiste Eamann Rís in Cork city says no steps have been taken to help resolve the teaching crisis

"The teaching crisis hasn't disappeared,  in fact, nothing has happened to help resolve the teaching crisis. Teaching is not a very attractive profession these days, and we don't have any graduates going into to become teachers, and that's creating the problem. And unless we address that problem, it's not going to go away on its own."
