Over five thousand ESB customers are now without power in Cork due to high winds associated with Storm Bram
Mayfield is among the worst affected with nearly 1900 homes and businesses without power in the area, there is also a large outage in Whitechurch and Curraglass in North Cork
Trees have been brought down in a number of areas including on East Cliff Road in Glanmire and on Shamrock Road in Douglas with the road blocked as a result
The R579 between Leemount Cross and Cloghroe has reopened after the removal of a tree which fell earlier
There are reports of debris westbound on the N40 South Ring Road between the Sarsfield and Bandon Road and a collision on the N72 Mallow Road near Spa House
Speaking to RedFM News David Joyce engineer with Cork City Council says it will be a very windy day right up to 9pm tonight
"Those really strong winds will continue and intensify from noon onwards. We expect from 4pm those winds will start pulling back. We are in a yellow wind warning until 9pm this evening, but at the end of the Orange wind warning, at 4pm we expect things to start improving, but it will be a very windy day right up to 9pm tonight"
