George Takei is among the Star Trek actors who've paid tribute to Nichelle Nichols following her death, aged 89.
The star's described her as "trailblazing" - and says his "heart is heavy" over her loss.
The actress played the no-nonsense communications officer Uhura in the original sci-fi series - breaking stereotypes with her famous interracial onscreen kiss with co-star William Shatner.
She died on Saturday in New Mexico.
