Sales of electric cars have surpassed diesel vehicles for the first time ever.
The number of fully-electric cars sold during the first three months of the year increased by 40 per cent, while Petrol Plug-In Hybrids were up almost 16 per cent.
Figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show sales of diesel cars dropped 3.63 per cent, compared with the start of last year, while new diesel hybrids were down 55 per cent.
