The family of a Cork fisherman, who died in an accident at sea last week, have expressed their gratitude to the people of Kinsale - for almost bringing the town to a ‘standstill’ for his funeral.

28-year-old Desmond Hurley from Eltin’s Wood in Kinsale lost his balance on board a fishing vessel in poor weather conditions on Thursday, 14th December.

He was found unconscious, but had died before an Irish Coast guard helicopter could reach the boat, 200KM off the south west coast.

The Hurley family wrote a social media post to express their gratitude for the huge outpouring of sympathy following Des's sudden death.
