Hollywood Icon Doris Day Dies Aged 97
Actress and singer Doris Day has passed away at the age of 97.
The Hollywood icon passed away at her home in Camel Valley, California.
In a statement confirming her death, Day was described as being "in excellent physical health for her age, until recently contracting a serious case of pneumonia".
"She was surrounded by a few close friends as she passed."
Day became a movie superstar with roles in Calamity Jane and Pillow Talk and had hit singles such as Que Sera Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be).
Doris never won an Oscar but was nominated for one in 1960 for her role in Pillow Talk.
Day was honoured with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2004 and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
