A Wizard of Oz remake is happening!

New line cinema has announced a remake of the 1939 classic film ‘The Wizard of Oz’ is in the works. New Line said it will be a “fresh take” of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”
Nicole Kassel who is best known for her work on the TV drama ‘Watchmen’ will direct the film. “While the 1939 musical is part of my DNA, I am exhilarated and humbled by the responsibility of re-imagining such a legendary tale,” said Kassell in a statement.
The book has been adapted many times with the most famous being the 1939 version with the iconic Judy Garland. Since Warner Bros owns New Line and the 1939 film this remake can use some trademarked elements from the classic film such as the ruby slippers.
